MEHTA SWEET Aix's former pastry chef, Jehangir Mehta (http://partistry.com), now is responsible for the last course at chef Patricia Yeo's Sapa (43 W 24th St., between Broadway and Sixth Avenue, 212-929-1800). His desserts there include banana-chocolate tarte with hazelnut ice cream; parfait of caramel tapioca, banana flan, and jasmine with an almond biscuit, and thyme panna cotta with a salad of pineapple, grape, and tarragon.

15th Annual Windows on Long Island Wine is an event that highlights the importance of local agriculture and spreads awareness of Long Island’s status as a threatened agricultural region. This fundraising gala, taking place on April 25, 2005 at Capitale (Bowery, NYC), raises money for Earth Pledge Foundation’s innovative, award-winning environmental programs, while celebrating top New York restaurants and Long Island’s dynamic wine industry. The theme of this year’s event is “Get Local: Eat Local, Drink Local!” .

Share Our Strength’s annual Taste of the Nation event brings together top New York Chefs in an event held on May 11th, 2005 at the Metropolitan Pavilion. 100% of ticket sales go to anti-hunger organizations like God’s Love We Deliver, City Harvest, Just Food, and the Food Bank for NYC. SOS has raised over $180 million since 1984 to fund more than 1,000 anti-hunger organizations worldwide.

5-23-2005 Toast of the Town
Wine Enthusiast magazine’s 4th annual “Toast of the Town,” brings together 60 of the world’s best known wine and spirits producers and 30 of New York’s best restaurants and purveyors for an evening of fine food and drink. Last year’s event was extremely well attended and well received – by over 1,300 affluent, sophisticated New Yorkers who appreciate fine cuisine and wine, and dine out frequently. This year’s event will take place at the New York State Theater of Lincoln Center on Monday, May 23rd, from 5PM to 10PM, and will feature over 400 wines and spirits, plus signature dishes from 30 selected restaurants and purveyors.
